The sketches in this section are part of a project that I started in 2011; that is to draw and paint a number of people in my home community of Ingonish, Nova Scotia. I generally work on the project during the slower winter months. Originally I thought that it might take two - five years to complete but the reality has been quite different. It will run more like five- ten years. In the end I hope to display the final works locally and beyond.
About half of the sketches here have been done from life and the other from photo reference. Some of the pieces will eventually be worked up into full size paintings and some will just remain as is. The people range from students that I have instructed in the local elementary school, retirees to RCMP officers. All have a story to tell.
